A
timeshare is a vacation home you and your family can return to again and
again to build a lifetime of happy memories together. It guarantees you a
vacation in the place and time of your choice at a stable, low price while
allowing you the freedom to trade it worldwide. In addition, if you choose
not to use your timeshare in a given year, you may deposit your timeshare
week into a “bank” of timeshares maintained by the international exchange
organizations which you may then use to stay somewhere else within the
next two years.
In
addition to the purchase price and any closing cost, a purchaser also pays
the resort an annual maintenance fee to maintain the property which also
includes a small real estate tax, and which is clearly disclosed at the
time of purchase, and which may change slightly over time. The maintenance
fee is usually a fraction of what it would cost a non-owner to rent a
comparable unit, and it is set by the management of the resort. By using
your timeshare just a few times, you will save enough money on travel
accommodations that it will pay for itself.
